At the heart of Yokohamabashi Shopping Street, Sakariya 2.0 hosts a variety of traditional craft workshops every month.
The opening highlight was the ever-popular Kintsugi Experience, featuring the talented artisan Karin from Kyoto.
Fragments of pottery, once used in daily life during the Muromachi and Kamakura periods, are given new life.
Participants select a shard they love, apply urushi lacquer, and transform it into a beautiful ring.
Along the way, they also learn about urushi and the fascinating history of kintsugi.
The finishing touch is sprinkling gold powder—tap, tap—and suddenly the piece shines brilliantly. ✨
Guests shared their joy: “That was so much fun!” and “I haven’t concentrated like this in ages!”
Through this hands-on experience, you discover not only the beauty of the craft but also the soul of the artisan.
